Awaking to sun, mountain and sky, the day began with breakfast and was completed with some writing of the fictional variety in my room until the ante became post meridian and I found myself in the Stravinski Auditorium changing guitar strings. The knob of Mitch’s Telecaster guitar mocked me, its pseudo-Bakelite derising my every attempt at fearlessness in the face of such a malevolent mist. Yes — it was a slow day considering everything was left setup from the night before.
Come soundcheck, and aside from playing the usual warmer-uppers, Leonard and the band worked on Choices, first listening to a George Jones mp3 a couple of times to get a feel for the version from which they were working, making slight changes to the instrumentation of their own interpretation of the song. There wasn’t much else of colossal interest to share this afternoon, apart from a lovely mug gifted to me, pictured left along with my thrilled visage.
